About

Learning is the acquiring of new knowledge or skills, and is an extremely crucial ability to humans. There are many types of learning; Habituation, sensitization, operant conditioning, imprinting, observational learning, play etc. But irregardless of the arrays of learning methods, the foremost concern of parents when it comes to education for their child is when does it start, and subsequently how.

Parents usually believe they fulfill this responsiblity by sending their child to preschools/nursery schools/day cares/kindergartens. In fact, they are unknowingly jeopardizing the prelude of their child’s life-long learning journey by neglecting the very first years of their mental and psychological growth. The point is this: You are your child’s first and most important teacher, right from their birth (and some believe even before).

Different parents put emphasis on their child’s early education to varying extent. This usually depends on their other life commitments (jobs, family, hobbies etc). Therefore, it is most ideal if the child is able to cultivate an inherent desire for learning. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. The same principal applies.

Once a child is self-motivated in learning, the stress on parents is greatly relieved. Even in later life, the learning and understanding of new disciplines will not be viewed as a tiresome chore, but as an enjoyment and fulfillment. School life would be much more meaningful.

This site humbly aims to help parents in achieving that goal for their child. One article at a time.happylearner01
