| 1 - 6 Months | Responds to sounds and words |
| 6 - 9 Months | Enjoys nursery rhymes and songs |
| 9 - 12 Months | Beats time and can pick up words |
| 1 - 1.5 Yrs | Enjoys recognizing pictures |
| 1.5 - 2 Yrs | Starts to turn pages |
| 2 - 2.5 Yrs | Corrects any change in story and repeats word |
| 2.5 - 3.5 Yrs | Tells story in his own words |
| 3.5 - 4 Yrs | Insists on familiar stories |
| 4 - 5 Yrs | Asks questions about story |
| 5 - 6 Yrs | Recognizes and points to specific words |
| 6 Yrs | Ready for school and learning to read |
